In the last video shawn said something that clicked with me, and something I think about in similar terms. He said that Pauls “momentum’ in the D.S reflected the great analogy of propelling the kid on a swing but Paul has his hand constantly guiding the swing, whereas if we ACCELERATE through the ball, rather than keep a constant speed the club can do nothing but act as we are forcing it to, i.e a whip through the ball. ACCELERATION and TEMPO are key to whipping the club, and its a great feeling
Well said! Shawn
I am a right hand dominant, left handed golfer. I have tried to use the frisbee throwing technique, but when contact the ball with the club, I feel that I am lifting the ball instead of compressing. I have tried to move the ball back in my stance, but that mostly causes me to push the ball weak and left. I like your videos, thought maybe you could help me. Thanks.
2 videos: “golf pro lesson weak or strong grip?” and Golf pro lesson tilted spiral part 1, 2 and especially 3;You just need to be more braced against the left side but without giving your position away of being behind the ball; see “golf pro lesson braced tilt part 2″ as well;Shawn
does your grip pressure need to be like it would when you are popping a bull whip?
Good Question; see “golf Pro lesson Grip Awareness” for this one;Shawn
I just have to say watching your videos here in Indy has given me such a great start to perfecting my game. I appreciate your vids…very visual and educational! Watching a lot of videos, you have broken the nuts and bolts down and I have to say that you are the best teacher that I have seen! Thanks!
Thanks for the nice comment!I am glad you are enjoying the content!Shawn
Shawn, really liked the visual swing images you provide in this vid. I think golfers these days really underestimate the effectiveness of the “Snead Squat” that you emphasize i order to transfer weight leading to the downswing lag and adding the early backswing lag adds another element of rhythm and timing to the important move.
Well said! Thanks for the comment; sorry I did not see this one before! Shawn
